you should either know enough not to delete it yourself accidently (unless your near passout drunk but then again you can barely spell at that point).

Also take common tips of using a tough password and not something that can be easily figured out.

There are too many impulsive people who would lock a character, and then realize they want to delete him.
There has to be some way to reverse it, otherwise a.net would just get flooded with hundreds of report tickets saying "I locked a character by accident when I was a n00b and now I want to unlock him." And if there is such an option, then a botter or account theif could reverse it as well.

When would you choose to "lock" a character, if I was the "hacker" I'd lock all of your characters to be an ass. In empty slots create new ones and "lock" them...

/signed for the character password option

I dont think I would ever delete any of my characters, got all the profs I want and 1 open slot to do what I wish with. But I think rather than it being a total lock, you can have an option to access a certain toon only by entering a second password. That way if in the future you can still delete him if wanted, but it will add more security.

I don't hear a lot of people in my alliance claiming that they got hacked. I don't think this problem is an epidemic.

Dont see how this tacles the actual problem of hacking? Just 'eases the pain'... ?
If youre paranoid, use a tough password.

/ signed for some more protection from Anet for our accounts. / signed for some kind of lock on characters. I don't see any reason why Anet could not put locks on our whole accounts that we could password protect as a second insurance.

/signed, they're should be a lock system you're right but maybe with a security, don't u think ? It would also be nice to save good stuff, why not having two passwords ? Well ok it would be a little bit complicated but I hope Anet will find a good idea for resolving this problems...

I agree 100% on this idea.

Lock the character so it never may be deleted. Simple and Best idea i think. It can't be that hard to put in the game can it? Finally Something we Need! *cough* ShortSkilldescriptionandSkinchangeofTonics *cough*

Or

Add a password with the "Enter the name" when you delete mabye.

Just couse it hasn't happen to you or anyone you know dosn't make this idea any less important seen from a security angle.

Happy to see my idea is getting some support!

Please ANet add this asap. Most of us would never EVER delete our 'mains' - all we're asking is for a simple way to make sure this never happens (i.e. via some baaaaad hacker !)

Tough for you then

Most of us here would like a way to make certain our main character (with all it's character-based achievements) can never be deleted. Especially with the upcoming HoM transfer-of-achievements from these chars to GW2.

If you change your mind!?! Then create a new character, or buy a new character slot

The point here is the option must be bullet-proof so a hacker can't just hack your account, 'unlock' your character, then delete it . In which case my Lock option is useless.
